Today, April 9, marks the 690th anniversary of the birth of Sahibqiran Amir Temur (1336–1405)!

Amir Temur ibn Amir Tarag‘ay was born on April 9, 1336, in the village of Khoja Ilgor near Kesh (modern-day Shahrisabz). He belonged to the Barlas tribe and from an early age stood out for his courage, intelligence, and determination. His father, Amir Muhammad Tarag‘ay, was one of the respected beks of his time — a brave warrior and a patron of knowledge who held scholars and intellectuals in high esteem.

From a young age, Amir Temur showed great interest in military affairs and state governance, and благодаря his talent and determination, he quickly rose to become a prominent military leader. In the second half of the 14th century, he established a powerful centralized state and became one of the most influential rulers in world history.

The vast empire founded by Amir Temur played a significant role in strengthening economic, political, and cultural ties between the East and the West. In governance, he emphasized justice, discipline, and the rule of law. His well-known code, the “Temur’s Laws” (Tuzuks of Temur), served as an important guide in state administration, military strategy, and social order.

The great commander also paid special attention to construction and urban development. Under his initiative, numerous architectural monuments, madrasahs, mosques, and gardens were built in Samarkand, Shahrisabz, and other cities. Samarkand, in particular, flourished as a major center of science, culture, and trade during his reign.

Amir Temur is recognized not only as a great conqueror but also as a statesman who made a significant contribution to the development of science, culture, and the arts. He gathered scholars, poets, and architects around him, supporting their work and fostering intellectual growth.

Today, the legacy of Amir Temur is honored as a symbol of national pride and dignity. His rich heritage, wise leadership, and great achievements continue to inspire younger generations to pursue knowledge, remain devoted to their homeland, and strive toward high goals.

We honor and remember our great ancestor with deep respect. His name and legacy will live on forever in the hearts of future generations.
